When our maternity unit in Ōpōtiki reduced its services, and specialist care in Whakatane was removed, many hapū māmā were left facing longer journeys, fewer choices, and more uncertainty during one of the most important times in their lives.

Te Taurahere o Hine Te Iwaiwa was created to awhi you through this journey, from hapūtanga to birth and beyond. We provide wrap around support, advocacy, and navigation services so you and your whānau are informed, connected, and cared for every step of the way.

We've also woven in x3 wānanga over the next 6 months, to educate and support whanau with their journey, along with aspects of safe sleep and weaving wahakura. This is more than a service. It's our commitment to keeping our whānau strong, safe, and surrounded in aroha no matter the distance.
